Why using timelapse?
0 comment(s)
Amel Bouakaz - AMCV
To observe the space to understand it better and also analyse it. First steps of place making, there is a lot of place making tools, here we'll talk about timelapse photography. What is it and why is it useful?
To carry out a time-lapse there are 2 steps:
• shooting, photographies are taken at a defined frequency
• film editing, those photographies are edited at the film frequency 24 frames / second
From that you can accelerate a scene, e.g. one entire day can runs in 5 minutes, or one year in 120 seconds!

Yolanda van Els, City of Eindhoven
Next May 2012 we will start with the placemaking workshops for our project areas in Doornakkers, Eindhoven.
Our projectareas in Eindhoven are a bit different from the other project places of our project partners. In both cases we speak of closed urban spaces of former primary schools which have been closed down in 2009.

Reclaim public space in Brighton: participate to the contest
0 comment(s)
Paula Goncalves - Brighton & Hove City Council
Architects, designers, artists and events people are being invited to design a new space in Brighton!
The objective is to turn the street and small park in front of the majestic St Bartholomew's Church into a successful and well-used space. The area is part of the wider regeneration of the London Road area of the city.
From 12 January, the council is looking for a pilot design that will be tested out this autumn, with the most successful features becoming permanent fixtures. Local people will be actively involved in helping to choose the final design and features and experiencing the new space. What are the next steps?

Welcome on the Lively Cities' blog, an INTERREG IVB European project to give back public space to communities.
You'll discover the partners' work, the meetings with involved communities, the public spaces' evolution, various pilot tested, actions implemented, etc....
This blog is an opportunity to know more about place making and place management, overseas concepts leaning on re-thinking public space according to users and not only design, by taking into account actual or potential users.
